First training sesions to be held in Lawrence, MA
We plan to start our training sessions on the OSHA-10hr course in the facilities of the Laborers' Local 175 in Methuen in late Spring 2005. Any Hispanic construction worker is welcome to attend. For more information please contact the Laborers at (978) 687-7200. The OSHA-10hr training courses will be offered during the weekends and will usually run for 1 day (8 am–6 pm). All workers that participate will receive the OSHA-10hr card.

Dissemination campaign in Spring 2005
We will be disseminating information on the educational and training materials that will be available to construction workers interested in knowing about safety at work. We plan to advertise the availability of training courses for all Hispanic workers via newspaper advertisements, posters and brochures. These materials will be distributed in churches, grocery stores, hair salons, etc. Any ideas on how to disseminate our information are welcome. Please .

Presenting our project in the World Safety Congress (September 2005)
We were asked to present the results of our training intervention study during the 2005 World Congress on Safety and Health at Work that will take place in Orlando, Florida, next September. This event will be held in the USA for the first time from September 18–22, 2005. Our presentation, titled “Training and Educational Materials for Hispanic Workers,” is part of the session Local Initiatives and Successful Stories in the Americas that will be offered on September 20, 2005. The presentation will focus on showing the methodology applied to the development of our educational and training materials and the establishment of a sustainable training program among Hispanic construction workers in Massachusetts.

Video selected as finalist in 6th International Film and Multimedia Festival
Our video Protecting Our Health and Safety in Construction Work has been selected as a finalist in the 6th International Film and Multimedia Festival that will take place in Orlando, Florida, next September. The 16-min video, available in Spanish and English, will be presented in this important event that is part of the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.
